Projects & Tools

The Horse Whispers To Her

“The Horse Whispers to Her” was done for the DVI “Aesthetics Project”, which called for students to follow movement with the camera. I worked with SF actress/acting coach Laura Derry and her horse Pickles at the Baywood Stables in Fairfax. I interviewed Laura, shot video of her riding and grooming Pickles, and tried to figure out what might be going on inside Pickles’ mind. The project turned out to be a “documentary love story” featuring Laura and Pickles. Thanks to Laura, Pickles and to Darcy Blake for helping me on camera.

And Another Thing

“And Another Thing” is a short film about an annoying man who pesters his lawyer so much he drives her to violence. A sort of “Twilight Zone for Attorneys”, it takes place in a small lawyer’s office, where counselor Melina Kallas must defend herself from the provocations of vexing client Buzz Laestig. Most of the DVI class worked on the video, with Jay Levine on camera, Bruce McKay on sound, Darcy Blake storyboarding, and Andy Pavis supplying technical advice. Georgeana Roussos plays the part of the much-put-upon lawyer, Melina Kallas.

The Right Wing

“The Right Wing” is a semi-animated 13-minute parody of NBC’s “The West Wing” featuring plastic action figures and stuffed animals in the main roles. It follows the Bush administration’s build up for an invasion of California, a scenario not as fantastical as it might seem. “The Right Wing” features the voices of Bay Area actors Paul Killam and Rebecca Stockley as well as my classmate Bruce McKay as Arnold Schwarzenegger. “The Right Wing” is meant as a pilot episode and is “to be continued”.
