Jewish
Vocational Service (JVS) assists individuals and companies
in achieving their employment goals by providing the skills necessary
for success in today's workplace. On average, JVS places four individuals
in Bay Area jobs every business day. Each year, JVS lists more than
30,000 job opportunities from 8,000 Bay Area employers. Individuals
making the transition into new work environments benefit from JVS'
career and employment counseling, job placement, English instruction,
and occupational skills training programs. JVS is a non-sectarian,
not-for-profit corporation.
History
In
1973, community leaders founded Jewish Vocational Service (JVS)
in response to the growing numbers of recent college graduates in
the Jewish community who could not find jobs after graduation. JVS
is a beneficiary of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco,
the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties.
