The Women's Building's Fundraising Code of Ethics

Solicitations for support shall be truthful, shall accurately describe The Women's Building purpose, programs & needs, and shall only make claims, which The Women's Building can fulfill.

There shall be no misleading information (including omissions or exaggerations of fact); no use of misleading photographs nor any other communication, which might create a false impression or misunderstanding.

Information in The Women's Building's appeals should accurately represent the actual programs for which the solicited funds will be used.

Any and all communications to the public by The Women's Building shall respect the dignity, values, history, and culture of women & girls, and their families in all their forms, supported by its programs. In particular, the organization shall avoid the following:

  • Messages which fuel prejudice and racism
  • Messages which fuel sexism, homophobia, and classism
  • Messages which generalize and mask the diversity of the community
  • Messages will only represent women & girls as strong, equal individuals

Privacy Policy

Our donor database is the collection of donor information electronically stored for purposes of fundraising, marketing, educational outreach, volunteerism, and general social correspondence. The membership of our donor database is a system, which documents and honors real human beings giving resources of money, time, goods & services to The Women's Building.

We feel explicit boundaries of usage respect the integrity of our data, which ultimately respects our donors' privacy. The donor database also serves as a measurable achievement of The Women's Building's fundraising over the years.

By maintaining standards of excellence in accuracy of individual detail and by limiting access, we are accountable to the communities we serve. The donor database cannot be sold or traded, in portion or in its entirety, for single or multiple use, without the consent of the organization and its donor constituency.

No material on this site may be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted, or distributed in any way without the express consent of The Women's Building, except that you may download one copy of the materials on any single computer for your personal, non-commercial home use only, provided you keep intact all copyright and other proprietary notices.
