The
goal of the Family Violence Project is to assist victims of domestic
violence in navigating through the criminal justice system and exploring
options to stopping the violence in their lives. The advocates either
provide or arrange for comprehensive services
as outlined in Penal Code 13835. The majority of the unit's referrals
come from either the San Francisco Police Department or the District
Attorney's Domestic Violence Unit. The Family Violence Project also
provides referrals to other community resources.
Victim Services also provides information about restraining
orders.
