About South of Market Child Care

Our Mission Statement:

South of Market Child Care, Inc.'s mission is to serve children, their families, and the community by providing child care and family support in a safe and nurturing environment. Our comprehensive programs are multi-cultural, educational, and promote social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, responsive to the specific needs of those we serve.

Who we are:

South of Market Child Care, Inc. (SOMACC) has provided quality child care and family programs for almost 30 years. Our programs have served the special needs of families from South of Market, the Tenderloin, and parents who work in downtown San Francisco. We have offered services at the Clementina Center since 1970 and expanded to an additional facility, the Yerba Buena Garden Center, in 1998.

All of our teaching staff have early childhood education backgrounds and many are multi-lingual. Our teachers are encouraged to continue in their studies and are required to meet three times a month to discuss early childhood theory and practice.

 

 

 

 

Our Child and Family Programs include:

  • A quality curriculum that includes art, literature, cooking, dramatic play, and the outdoors
  • Certified and muti-lingual staff
  • Parent involvment and family support activities and classes
  • Nutritious meals and health services
  • Services for children with special needs
  • Subsidized and private care
