The three main components of the Pacific Islander Youth Alliance are the after-school tutorial program, the summer program, and general counseling and support services for students, parents and teachers. After-school tutoring and mentoring programs have improved academic performance. Cultural activities and seminars foster leadership, and better relations between youth, peers and families. Counseling, advocacy and support services improve the lives of students, parents and teachers alike.

The GIRL Project, Giving Inspiring Responsibility in Life, offers an alternative, community based option to incarceration for youth, and in particular girls. Girls who have been referred to our program will receive a comprehensive needs assessment, and based upon that assessment an individualized treatment plan, known as the plan of care, will be developed. The plan of care can include case management, individual counseling, educational and vocational training services, aftercare, referral to more intensive services and a peer leadership program. Additionally, clients will receive monitoring and regular reports to their respective probation officer.
