Charity
Cultural Services Center (CCSC) has a consistent record of participation
in Chinatown neighborhood cleanup activities. CCSC has partnered with
the Mayor's Office in extensive Chinatown cleanup and maintenance programs
and neighborhood beautification projects.
CCSC supports
two specific programs:
The
Chinatown Neighborhood Beautification Project conducts regular beautification
activities in San Francisco's Chinatown/North Beach neighborhoods. The
project works towards improving the image while at the same time celebrating
the beauty and history of the neighborhood. Aiming to accelerate the
development and growth of local-based businesses while providing residents
with a new vision for economic and cultural development.
The Chinatown
Energy And Material Conservation Project called the "Respect
Project," is CCSC's
program working to empower the local Chinatown and greater Bay Area
Chinese communities by implementing a culturally specific conservation
education and mobilization program. In partnership with Pacific Gas
and Electric Company, the California Public Utilities Commission, and
the San Francisco Office of Solid Waste Management, CCSC provides outreach
and dialogue with the community, developing translations of current
materials and a culturally specific marketing campaign to involve the
Bay Area Chinese American population in sustainable environmental conservation
customs.
