In 1998, CARECEN was asked to restructure and lead the Second Chance Tattoo Removal Program. By January 1999, this program began enrolling young men and women eager to seek a fresh and positive lifestyle alternative. Second Chance Tattoo Removal is an act of courage. This program offers participants the option of removing gang-related tattoos that signify a threat to their personal safety or an obstacle to employability. The program offers a comprehensive case management component that provides participants with educational services, job training and employment placement. Our goal is to assist youth and young adults in the process of abandoning gang life styles by providing them with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to successfully achieve self-empowerment and personal growth.
