Following are examples of target audience user scenarios.

Case 1


Jane Doe: 25-30 years old, 60-90k income, freelance web designer looking for a charity

  • Jane is moving up into a new income bracket where increased charitable donations are both possible and financially desirable. She found APA by searching for nonprofits helping children and families because that is in keeping with her personal goals. She is comfortable in an Internet enviroment because that is her career. On the home page, she chooses successes because she wants to know how the agency is helping people. On this page, she sees that these are stories of APA clients and how APA helps them. She clicks on the text link and chooses to read a few stories. Satisfied that APA programs can help people, she clicks on the photo album and spends a few moments with the photographs of happy children. Feeling positive about the agency so far, she decides to explore the programs more carefully and clicks on the Program text link. Here she finds an overview of the services offered. Satisfied that APA is a full service family support center, she clicks on the Make a Gift link and goes to the donation form. She chooses Charitableway to make an on-line donation to APA.

Case 2

A Private Foundation : the 45 year old female president is considering a one-time endowment

  • Having received an application from APA for an endowment, the foundation's president goes to APA's URL to get a feel for the agency. She approves of the clean, professional look that manages to convey warmth and personality. She knows exactly how much funding APA currently has and is impressed by the on-line presence. She clicks on the Make a Gift text link and reads the overview of donation options. Then she clicks on the Make a Gift Application and checks it out. She is impressed at how APA maximizes its resources and innovatively approachs private donors. She clicks on About Us and goes to an overview of the agency itself. Then she clicks on Volunteer and reads that overview. Lastly, she clicks on Successes and then the family photo album. The site is pleasing and readable yet gives much information on the agency, its services and clients. She decides to approve the endowment.

Case 3


Potential Volunteer : any level income or retired Filipino male, interested in giving back to his community

  • In the home page he would look for and find a "Volunteer" link for information. In one click, he receive an overview of the volunteer jobs available, a brief paragraph of APA's philosophy of volunteering, a list of current volunteers and volunteer testimonials. He decides to view the in-depth descriptions of the volunteer jobs and clicks its text link. He reads further information on the jobs available. He finds one that he qualifies for and clicks to the on-line application which he fills out and submits.
