San Francisco's historic Sigmund Stern Grove is filming their weekend concert series this summer. The film crew is comprised exclusively of recent graduates of SFSU College of Extended Learning's Digital Video Intensive program.

The Stern Grove Festival is celebrating its 69th year of free concerts and the graduate camera crew are producing a DVD of the Grove and its wonderful gift of free arts and entertainment.

As always, the Festivals feature performances from a variety of styles. Artists this season include Amiee Mann, The San Francisco Symphony, Seu Jorge, Mavis Staples, Ozomatli and Jackie Greene. All summer, the crew are commissioned to film performances, pre-concert talks and private interviews.

Although they are immersed in narrative motion picture production during their training, this isn't the first time DVI students (The "DVants") have been called upon to work with musical performances. Previous teams have filmed concerts by other artists such as Joan Armatrading and Guitars and Saxes. Yet another team shot and edited a 90-minute feature for DIRECTV of 2 time grammy award winner Bruce Hornsby.
