What you will get out of this class

By the end of this class, you will all walk away with a CD-ROM containing our group project: a font-specific, mini-Web site. It is for this reason that I have designed the class as a group study session, with everyone contributing equally towards the final goal. I will be coordinating all the preproduction and architecture for the site. You will be designing the work and producing the final graphics. This is an exciting opportunity to produce an excellent portfolio piece, a great reference tool and something you can use to demonstrate your skill level.

Attendance

Because the class is only 6 weeks long, it is imperative you attend all sessions. If you miss more than one class, I will have no other choice but to fail you. Obviously if you have a good reason, and are able to make up the work within the current time constraints of the class schedule, accommodations can be made. However, there will be no extensions given out for any reason.

Grades

Easy. Either you pass or you fail. Nobody deserves to fail a class if they are truly into the class. All I ask is for your open participation in class discussions, regular attendance, and to make an honest attempt at completing the homework. Remember that the work you do for this class will benefit everyone else, so if you slack off, your are not just hurting yourself but everyone else in class as well. That's not fair to the others.

Participation

An open mind and an eagerness to share your ideas and thoughts are all that is required. By holding your thoughts and ideas to yourself, you are not helping anyone. Someone else who might be struggling could gain with your assistance. And for the times that you might be stuck, I would hope you could turn to someone in the class and ask them for assistance. Even if you are shy and like sitting back and keeping everything to yourself, I would ask you to really try to be part of the class. I promise I won't bite.

Evaluation

At the end of this course you will be asked to evaluate both the class and me as your instructor. Your comments are very important to me as well as the school. Based on your remarks, this class will be judged for its helpfulness and content in fulfilling your educational needs. In other words, if you think things need to change, they will. If you liked any or part of the class I would like to know so I'll know what I should continue to make this class even better.
